Galatians 6:1-3
“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important."
This is a topic that I find very difficult to do in my own life. I’m scared. I am so scared of sharing parts of my life that I don’t have put together. This whole blogging thing? Scary!! I don’t like appearing as though I don’t have control of my life, so why would I ever share my troubles with another person? This idea that I need to have my life perfectly put together is a lie. We, as humans, are so broken. I don’t know why we allow ourselves to think that we are alone in our brokenness. We are not! Satan wants us to believe that we are the only person struggling. Isolation is such a powerful thing.
This idea that I need to have my life perfectly put together is a lie.
If we are so afraid to share with one another the burdens that we are facing, Satan wins. He wants us to feel alone, isolated, helpless. But get this! In 2nd Corinthians 1:4 it says, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” Because we each go through our own struggles, we can aid others when they’re struggling with the same things that we have in the past. It’s so easy to feel as though we are the only ones going through this struggle. We then take to isolation, shutting out those around us. But we are called to community! We are called to aid one another in our struggles. Reach out to one another, ask how they are - but actually stick around for their answer. You may be able to use your previous struggles to aid them in their journey. Let’s journey through this life together.
